Cantonment Khalsa Higher Secondary School, 1 Supply Road, Jabalpur Cantt. had a unique starting as a full fledged school from K.G. to Higher Secondary (then 11th) which came into existence suddenly in 1969 with about 650 students. (Unlike other schools, this school did not open increasing one class each year.) At that time, Smt. Avtar Kaur Ruprah who was a young and dynamic lady of 37, was its Principal. The school is owned and managed by the "SIKH EDUCATION SOCIETY", a religious, charitable, educational and social organization (Society) registered under the Societies Registration Act.
In those initial days, the co-operation of the Late Sardar Pritam Singh ji Reel (father of Sardar Manohar Singh ji Reel), the then President of Ramgarhia Society and the then Education Minister, Late Shri Jagdish Narayan Awasthy, cannot be ignored without which, this school would not have come into existence.
The architect and driving spirit behind the mission was a divine – most reverend Late Sardar Hari Singh ji Ruprah, who was also the Vice-President of the Society at that time. After the retirement of Mrs. Avtar Kaur Ruprah from the post of Principal, Late Sardar Hari Singh ji Ruprah accepted the post of President of the Society and undertook rapid construction work. In fact, most of the existing buildings of the school as on date were constructed under his President-ship only.
We should also not forget the contribution of Sardar Sarwan Singh ji Dhami and his family, Shri Rajendra Nagrath Advocate, Shri Basant Kumar Choubey Advocate, Shri T.S.Ruprah Advocate (now Sr. Advocate) in the initial days. Late Mrs. Mahinder Kaur Dhami w/o Sardar Sarwan Singh ji Dhami supplied parshadey to young boys like Rajinder Singh, T.S.Ruprah, and Harbhajan Singh Dhami who worked day and night for the construction of a shed overnight to accommodate the children.
The services of Late Sardar Sohan Singh ji Rehal, Late Sardar Gurdayal Singh Virdi (Imliwale), Late Sardar Harnam Singh Virdi (Imliwale), and Late Sardar Kuldeep Singh is also worth mentioning.
Under the present President, Sardarni Avtar Kaur Ruprah and present Principal Sardarni Paramjit Kaur, the school is progressing in leaps and bounds. With a big expanse of land at its disposal in the heart of the city of Jabalpur, the school has ushered into conduct of classes in English medium as well and over here also has maintained excellent standard of education both within the class and in sports, games and cultural activities.
Labouring down the years adopting all modern techniques in imparting education within the class and in the field learning is a pleasure in this school. No wonder students of this school have come occupy prestigious positions in the society.
